Wanted Man who attacked Police officer leaving him with an eye injury has been arrested

Police have confirmed that the man circulated as wanted for attacking a Police officer on the Isle of Wight has been arrested The 19 year old man from Ryde remains in custody following his arrest this morning. Following a tip-off and acting on information the man was arrested and taken to Newport Police station for questioning. The arrest comes following an incident on Pallance Road in Cowes after officers carried out a stop and search on a scooter. The officer was attacked and was later treated for an injury to his eye. A spokesperson for Constabulary said:” A 19-year-old man from Ryde had been arrested on suspicion of assault. The man remains in custody being questioned over the alleged assault. A second man from Cowes area who was arrested has been released without charge.
