Boy, 11, Suffers Life-Changing Injuries After Horror Fall at Wythenshawe Tram Stop

An 11-year-old lad is fighting for life after plunging between a tram and the platform at Brownley Road tram stop in Wythenshawe.

Emergency services raced to the scene Tuesday afternoon following terrifying reports the child had been “dragged underneath” as the tram pulled away.

Police quickly cordoned off the area and urgently called for witnesses to step forward.

A stunned neighbour said, “I just heard all the sirens – police, ambulance, and a helicopter landing right across the road. It was shocking. I only found out what happened later, and it’s just horrible.”

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said:

“Emergency services are currently attending a serious incident at Crossacres tram stop in Wythenshawe. A boy was struck by a tram and has been taken to hospital with life-changing and potentially life-threatening injuries. Trams to Manchester Airport are currently suspended as we carry out our enquiries.”

Danny Vaughan from Transport for Greater Manchester added:
