26 Years On: The Vanishing of Andrew John Capon

This week marks 26 years since Andrew John Capon disappeared without a trace. The father of three vanished on October 2, 1998, during a night out with workmates in Ingoldmells, Lincolnshire. Despite relentless searches and appeals, Capon’s fate remains a mystery, leaving a family desperate for answers.

Last Seen After Club Brawl

  • Andrew, aged 37 and from Grantham, was staying at Waterside Leisure Park with colleagues.
  • The group hit up local bars and clubs, but Andrew got separated from friends by the end of the night.
  • CCTV caught him in a scuffle at The Street Complex nightclub, where four bouncers forcibly threw him out.
  • His last sighting on camera shows him crossing Scarborough Avenue near Skegness Pier, with a friend chasing after him.

Family Tragedy and Ongoing Search

Since that fateful night, Andrew’s family has suffered greatly. His father died of a heart attack just two weeks after the disappearance, and his mother passed away never knowing what happened to her son. Now adults, his three children continue to seek closure.

Lincolnshire Police remain committed to the case. Detective Inspector James Kirk said,

“Even after 26 years, we remain committed to solving this case. No piece of information is too small—it could be the key to providing Andrew’s family with the answers they desperately need.”
