Vandals Smash Shaun the Sheep Statues in Maidstone Charitable Trail

Late on Sunday night, August 18, 2024, two of the beloved Shaun the Sheep statues in Maidstone’s Heart of Kent Hospice charity trail were smashed beyond repair. The damage happened between 10pm and 10.20pm at Brenchley Gardens and Fremlin Walk — right before the statues were due to be auctioned off to raise money for the hospice.

Suspects Caught on CCTV Kicking Statues

Local police say the vandals took turns viciously kicking the statue at Fremlin Walk before pushing it over and sprinting off towards Week Street. Officers believe the two damage incidents are connected and are treating the vandalism as a linked attack.

An investigation is ongoing into how the second statue was damaged. CCTV footage has been released featuring a group of men who may be involved.
