Blaze Breaks Out at Empty Five-Storey Block in Croydon
A fire tore through a disused five-storey block of flats undergoing renovations in Croydon early this morning. One man managed to escape before firefighters arrived and was treated on-site for smoke inhalation by ambulance crews.
Huge Fire Response in Sydenham Road
The London Fire Brigade rushed eight engines and around 50 firefighters to tackle the blaze at Sydenham Road. The alarm was raised at 4.21 a.m., and the fire was fully extinguished by 5.33 a.m.
Teams from Woodside, Norbury, and several other nearby stations joined the emergency effort.
Cause of Fire Under Investigation
Officials say the origin of the fire is still being looked into as investigators examine the scene.
