Youngster Found Dead in Ogmore River – Three Held
The body of a missing child was discovered in the Ogmore River near Pandy Park, Bridgend, early Saturday morning. South Wales Police were called after reports of the youngster missing in the early hours.
Three Arrested Over Child’s Death
Police have arrested a 39-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman, and a 13-year-old boy, all from the Bridgend area, in connection with the child’s death. Officers confirmed they are not searching for anyone else linked to the case.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Investigators are urgently seeking anyone who was near the river at 5:45am BST on Saturday to come forward. They want to understand how the child ended up in the water.
Chief Inspector Geraint White said: “This is a tragic incident in which a young child has sadly lost their life. We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who has any information, to get in touch.”
He added a plea for the public not to speculate on social media as the investigation remains active.
Support for Family and Community
Police have made regular contact with the boy’s family, offering support through specialist trained officers. Chief Inspector White said the local neighbourhood team will continue engaging with residents to address concerns.
“We recognise many in the community want answers. We are keeping an open mind and working hard to uncover all the facts so the family can have closure,” said White.
