Quick-Thinking Duo Saves Man from Dangerous Bridge Standoff
Yasmin Ball and Kevin Hartley sprang into action earlier this year when they spotted a man perched on the wrong side of railings over a busy motorway. Their calm approach and quick wit helped bring the distressed man to safety.
Heroic Actions Earn Police Commendation
The pair were the first on the scene and managed to build a rapport with the man. Speaking gently and with care, Yasmin and Kevin convinced him to step back to safety.
Last month, Chief Superintendent Shelley Hemsley awarded them a district commander’s commendation for their fast-thinking and compassion during the tense ordeal.

“I cannot thank Yasmin and Kevin enough for their quick thinking and response,” said Chief Superintendent Hemsley. “They saw a man who was clearly in great distress and instinctively intervened and helped him to safety.”
“Our officers do a really difficult job and unfortunately we can’t be everywhere at once. Sometimes, as in this case, the quick actions of the public are crucial to saving lives.”
