A fatal collision in a quiet Hertfordshire village has left the local community reeling. PC Daniel Golding, 46, died on the spot after his BMW motorcycle crashed with a Renault Traffic van on Lower Hatfield Road on the morning of August 18.
Tributes Pour in for Loving Husband and Father
PC Golding, a serving officer with the Metropolitan Police, was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife Susan and their two children, Amber, 11, and Jack, 14. His family described him as “kind, modest, generous, sociable, thoughtful, and funny.”
“He spent every spare moment playing silly games with his children, taking them to clubs, and going camping,” the family said. “He was a dedicated family man who has left an immeasurable void in our lives.”
Dan had recently moved to the Met in February to pursue a full-time role with the prestigious Special Escort Group (SEG). He had previously protected the Queen and other VIPs at national and international events.

Detective Sergeant Mark Hollard of the Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit expressed his condolences and urged anyone with information to come forward.
“We are determined to get to the bottom of how this happened. If you witnessed the crash or have dashcam footage, please contact us.”
