Local PCSOs Score Cash Boost for Youth Club to Tackle Boredom and ASB

Community Heroes Step Up

Singlewell PCSOs Maria Pereira and Shamar Appleby spotted a problem in their patch. Youngsters in Warrior Avenue had hardly any activities to keep busy, sparking boredom and even anti-social behaviour. So, the officers took action.

Securing Funds to Make a Difference

The duo applied to Gravesham Council’s Community Safety Unit and nailed a £230 funding grant for the ‘Strengthening Minds’ community hub. The cash will be invested straight back into the youth club.

What the Money Buys

PSCO Maria Pereira said: “The club offers an important space for young people in the community to come together, support one another and have fun. The money is going towards new cutlery for the kitchen, a pool table, and craft activities. I’m really pleased we got the extra funding—it’s definitely going to make a real difference!”
