Burglary Spree Shakes Whitstable and Minster on Sea
Man Tries to Break Into Whitstable Home
On Friday 19 January, a crook attempted to break into a property on Joy Lane, Whitstable. The incident raised alarms in the usually quiet neighbourhood.
Fire Station Targeted During Emergency Call
Just two days later, on Sunday 21 January, 1 Fire Station in Whitstable’s High Street was broken into. Thieves struck while the fire crew was away responding to an emergency. Stolen items included a bank card and personal belongings.
The stolen bank card was quickly used in a nearby shop, making it clear the burglars were ready to cash in fast.
Another Break-In in Minster on Sea
On Monday 22 January, a house on Augustine Road, Minster on Sea, also fell victim to burglars. Police swiftly moved on the case and arrested a man later that day.
Suspect Charged with Multiple Crimes
Darren Rogers, 45, of Cavell Way, Sittingbourne, was charged by East Kent CID. He faces two counts of burglary, one attempted burglary, as well as charges of receiving stolen goods and fraud by false representation.
Rogers appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 24 January. He has been remanded to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday 21 February.
