A Suspected Drug Driver Was Arrested And Speeding Motorists Reported During Work By Police In The #canterbury District

Officers from Canterbury’s Community Policing Team and Kent’s Road Safety Unit carried out checks in the city centre, #HerneBay and #Whitstable on Monday 14 March 2022. During their work, a 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after being stopped by a police motorcycle patrol in Whitstable. The woman has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue. Officers in Herne Bay issued two motorists with Traffic Offence Reports after they were seen driving at more than 40mph in a 30mph zone. In Canterbury city centre, around 20 riders of mopeds, e-scooters and bicycles were spoken to and advised they should not be riding in the area. Sergeant Lee Thompson, of the Canterbury Community Policing Team, said: ‘Kent Police is aware of the frustration dangerous and nuisance drivers cause for residents in the district. ‘It is every motorists’ duty to ensure they drive in a way that does not impact on others, but we will continue to carry out operations like this one to remind drivers of that responsibility.’
