Patients and Staff Safe Amid Swift Evacuation

A spokesperson for Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust confirmed the blaze was caused by a lightning strike earlier this afternoon. “All staff and patients are safe,” they said. Nurses are in touch with families to keep them updated.

Outpatient Services Disrupted but Set to Resume

  • The hospital closed its Outpatient and Minor Injuries Unit on Wednesday evening as a precaution.
  • Anyone needing urgent care is advised to call NHS 111 or visit alternative facilities.
  • The Minor Injuries Unit is expected to reopen Thursday morning (29th July).
  • Outpatient appointments for Thursday remain on, but all day case procedures are postponed with patients being contacted directly.

The hospital is working around the clock to manage the situation and protect patients. Authorities say services should be back to normal very soon.
