A229 Shut After Serious Quad Bike Crash Near Herne Bay
A major Kent road is gridlocked after a man took a nasty fall from a quad bike. The A229 in Herne Bay and part of the A299 are closed as emergency crews tackle the scene.
Man Falls From Quad Bike on Busy A229
Kent Roads Policing and collision investigators rushed to the site after receiving reports of a man falling from a quad bike. The rider was travelling with a group when the incident happened near the A229 slip road at Canterbury Road.
Serious Delays as Air Ambulance Called
Police were called at 3.44pm on Tuesday 14 July 2020 following the accident on the Thanet Way, near the Herne Bay exit. Paramedics, including the Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex, landed on scene to treat the injured man.
He was quickly airlifted to a London hospital. Meanwhile, the London-bound carriageway remains closed, causing heavy traffic jams that show no signs of easing.
Investigation Underway, Road Closure to Stay
Officers warn the A229 closure will last for hours. Traffic is at a standstill on all roads approaching the scene as the probe continues into the cause of the crash.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Our teams are working to investigate this serious collision. We ask drivers to avoid the area if possible.”
