Marylebone Road Shut After Ambulance Goes Up in Flames
Marylebone Road eastbound has been shut at Cosway Street this morning after an ambulance burst into flames. The London Fire Brigade responded swiftly to the dramatic blaze.
Ambulance Catches Fire at 8:15am
Emergency services were called at around 8:15am to reports of thick smoke billowing from the rear of a stationary ambulance. Within minutes, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames before firefighters brought the fire under control.
Fortunately, no patients were on board and there are no reports of injuries.
Same Ambulance Model Involved in Second Incident
This is the second time an ambulance of this particular model has caught fire, raising concerns about vehicle safety. Emergency crews remain on scene, and engineers will inspect the road surface once the burning vehicle has been cleared.
Investigation Underway
The London Fire Brigade confirmed an official inquiry is now underway. They are working closely with the ambulance trust and manufacturers to find the cause.
“We were called to reports of a vehicle fire on Marylebone Road. Crews found an ambulance alight and quickly brought the fire under control. The cause is being investigated,” said a spokesperson.
