Four fearless women take on Atlantic row to save the seas – and want your heart on board!
Meet the Virtual Crew Turned Ocean Adventurers
Four women in their thirties, who first met over Zoom during the first Covid lockdown, are gearing up for an epic 3,000-mile row across the Atlantic. They call themselves the One Ocean Crew, united by a bold idea: “Life is for living and adventures are there to be had.”
But rowing across the ocean is no small feat – fewer people have done it than climbed Everest. This foursome must master teamwork and face deep-seated fears, including one member’s fear of deep water.
From Zoom Chats to Kayaks and Big Dreams
Jen Cullom from Oxfordshire explains, “We just put the word out there and were drawn together through networks and online. We couldn’t meet in person until July 2020, when we kayaked just off the Dorset coast.”
Emily Woodason from London adds, “Luckily it was close to shore because Jen’s fear of deep water is another challenge we need to tackle.”
Launching Hearts and Hopes: Fundraiser Set for Valentine’s Day
The team hasn’t yet raised the full cash for their dream eco-friendly boat. Their launch event, kicking off February 1st, aims to raise funds and bring public support on board.
For Valentine’s Day, they’re offering a heartfelt twist: supporters can send in personalised dedications — little messages of love, memory, and celebration — to be carried with them across the Atlantic.
“We are putting our hearts and souls into this and we thought it would be a lovely chance to let other people put their hearts into it too. We will literally carry their hearts with us,” says Erin Bastian from Cornwall.
“It’s not only incredibly romantic, a unique present you won’t find anywhere else, but a chance to remember important dates and loved ones,” adds JP.
“We promise to treasure every supporter’s love and memories, carrying them safely to Antigua,” they vow.
