Cybersecurity firm Oligo Security uncovered 23 major weaknesses in AirPlay, the system that connects iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks to TVs and speakers. Two of these bugs allow hackers to install malware remotely. Once infected, a single device can spread the virus across entire Wi-Fi networks.
Dubbed AirBorne, the flaws let cybercriminals take full control, steal sensitive data, eavesdrop on conversations, and even crash systems—all without being detected.

The danger isn’t just at home. Oligo warns that Apple’s CarPlay, which syncs iPhones with vehicles, is also at risk. Hackers could launch remote code attacks via a car’s Wi-Fi hotspot, especially if the password is weak or guessable.
Hackers must be on the same Wi-Fi network to exploit the flaws, putting millions of users at risk — particularly those using outdated third-party gadgets.
