Police in Coleraine have launched an investigation following an overnight arson attack on a bar in Macosquin. The incident occurred at approximately 2.15am on Tuesday, July 4. Two residents, a man and a woman, who were present in an adjoining house, managed to extinguish the fire at the front door before the arrival of the Fire Service.
Detective Inspector Gareth Lavery has labeled the incident as “arson endangering life” due to the potential risk posed to the occupants of the house. Fortunately, the swift actions of the residents prevented the fire from spreading to their homes. Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information regarding the crime to come forward. They can contact the police at 101, quoting reference 111 04/07/23.
