Inferno Engulfs Derelict Droxford Hotel in Early Morning Blaze

Firefighters raced to a massive fire at the abandoned Upland Park Hotel in Droxford at 4.51am today. Crews arrived to find the former hotel well alight, with flames so fierce that part of the building collapsed.

Squatters a Concern but No One Inside

Officials were worried the building might contain squatters, but Hampshire Fire and Rescue confirmed no one was inside during the blaze. Multiple fire teams from Droxford, Bishops Waltham, Fareham, Botley, Portchester, and support units tackled the inferno.

Six Hours On, Smoke Still Clouds Garrison Hill

Hours after the fire broke out, the fire service warned residents to expect lingering smoke and steaming in the Garrison Hill area throughout the day. A spokesman said, “Incident scaling down but still awaiting a stop message. Beware that in the area of Garrison Hill, Droxford there will be steaming and smoking for the rest of the day.”

History of Fires Haunts Old Upland Park Site

This isn’t the first blaze at the site. Fire crews also battled flames here back on June 12, 2018, when part of the old hotel caught fire. The derelict building continues to pose a risk to the community.
