A seven-month-old baby girl has tragically died after being mauled by a family pet at a home on Shorncliffe Road. Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 3pm on Sunday, with paramedics giving urgent medical treatment.
Baby suffers severe head injuries
The infant sustained critical head wounds from the dog bite. Despite the life-saving efforts of ambulance crews, the young child sadly passed away soon after the attack.
Dog euthanised, investigation underway
The pet, which was not considered a dangerous breed, was quickly removed from the house and humanely put down. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
