Emergency Declared on British Airways Flight to Turkey

A British Airways flight from London Gatwick to Antalya sparked alarm after declaring an emergency just before landing.

Flight Details and Delay

Flight BA2864 was scheduled to depart Gatwick at 12:45pm but took off shortly after 1pm. The Airbus A320-232, a 21-year-old plane, was due to touch down in Antalya at 7pm local time (5pm UK time).

Emergency Code 7700 Sent

The pilots sent out a code 7700, the international squawk for any aviation emergency. However, the exact cause remains under wraps.

Safe Landing Confirmed

British Airways confirmed the flight landed safely. A spokesperson said: “The aircraft landed normally and safely and our customers disembarked as normal.”
