Van driver jailed for three years after fatal hit-and-run on cyclist
A callous van driver who smashed into and killed a cyclist before fleeing the scene has been sentenced to three years behind bars. Noah Chapman, 23, from Salisbury, admitted causing death by careless driving and trying to cover his tracks.

Chapman was behind the wheel of a white Ford Transit-style van when he struck Richard White, 70, on Salisbury Road at 9.20am on April 28. The pensioner was left seriously injured, lying helpless in the road.

Instead of helping, Chapman sped off, abandoning the stricken cyclist. Mr White was rushed to southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton General Hospital but tragically died on May 18 from his injuries.
Police launch major manhunt
Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit launched a huge operation to track down Chapman. They scoured CCTV footage and examined mobile phone records to crack the case.
“Chapman showed a complete disregard for human life,” said the judge during sentencing.
