Britax Römer recalls classic DUALFIX seats over safety fears
Britax Römer has launched a voluntary recall on its popular DUALFIX car seat. The move comes after a potential safety flaw was spotted in a specific seat component.
Which DUALFIX seats are affected?
The recall targets DUALFIX seats sold between 3rd November 2017 and 22nd March 2018. Importantly, this faulty part is unique to these seats and isn’t used in any other Britax Römer products.
No accidents reported – but safety comes first
So far, there have been no reports of incidents or accidents caused by the component. Britax admits only a small number of seats may have the issue, but they’re not taking any chances.
“Child safety and product quality are our top priorities,” said Britax Römer. “We identified the problem through our internal tests and are acting swiftly.”
Why the recall? Stringent safety tests flag the problem
Britax carries out conformity of production (COP) tests far more often than the law demands. It was these routine checks that uncovered the safety shortfall, prompting the recall.
