Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Now Fundraiser
Gosport’s Caroline Dinenage swapped her usual wardrobe for a splash of pink to back Breast Cancer Now’s Wear It Pink fundraiser. The big day is set for Friday 19 October, aiming to raise cash for crucial breast cancer research.
Westminster MPs Unite in Pink Power
Earlier this month, Caroline joined over 200 MPs at Westminster, all rocking pink to boost awareness nationwide. She’s urging her Gosport constituents to get involved and help smash fundraising records during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So far, Wear It Pink has raised more than £31 million for lifesaving research.
How You Can Join the Pink Parade
Joining Wear It Pink is easy. Wear a pink item, host a pink-themed event, and donate what you can. Whether it’s at work, school, or in your community, every penny supports Breast Cancer Now’s mission to ensure that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will survive and thrive.
Caroline’s Call to Action
“Breast cancer remains the UK’s most common cancer. Every year, around 11,500 women and 80 men tragically lose their lives to it,” said Caroline.
“I’m passionate about encouraging everyone in Gosport to take part on 19 October. It’s a fantastic way to come together, have fun with friends and family, and support vital research. Just add a splash of pink to your outfit – it really makes a difference!”
Olympian Donna Fraser Backs the Cause
Joining the MPs in Westminster was Donna Fraser, a four-time Olympian and Breast Cancer Now ambassador. Diagnosed with breast cancer at 36, the 45-year-old now champions equality and diversity at UK Athletics.
“Wear It Pink is a fabulous event that brings everyone together to fund research into this devastating disease,” Donna said. “Having fought breast cancer myself, I know how crucial it is to raise money to find a cure. We all dream of the day when no one dies from breast cancer – and that day can’t come soon enough.”
Breast Cancer Now’s Top Brass Speaks Out
Baroness Delyth Morgan, Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Now, praised the MPs’ pink passion.
“Everyone looked fabulous and showed how simple it is to wear pink daily. We hope Caroline’s efforts inspire Gosport to fundraise at home, work, and school,” she said.
“Wear It Pink is a brilliant way for communities across the UK to unite, have fun, and fight back. Just by donning something pink and donating, you help save lives. Together, we aim for a future where all those diagnosed with breast cancer live well beyond it.”
