Pregnant Women in Gaza Face Life-Threatening Crisis

Pregnant women in the under-fire Gaza Strip are trapped in a nightmare, ActionAid warns. The charity reveals around 50,000 pregnant women and newborns are stranded without vital medical care amid relentless conflict. Many are desperately trying to flee south, but face a terrifying choice: risk a dangerous escape or stay put and face near-certain death.

“These women are caught between fleeing with no guarantee of safety or staying at almost certain death,” said Riham Jafari, ActionAid’s Palestine advocacy coordinator.

  • Since October 7, at least 54 Palestinians have been killed.
  • Over 1,000 have been wounded, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
