Fire Rips Through Croydon Home – Residents Evacuated
Early Sunday morning, flames engulfed a derelict house on Davidson Road, Croydon, forcing over a dozen residents to evacuate. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters raced to the scene at 2:35am to battle the blaze.
House Devastated, But No Injuries
The fire completely destroyed the ground floor and stairs of the end-terrace property, while severely damaging most of the first floor. Miraculously, no injuries were reported during the chaos.
Three Hours of Firefighting Efforts
Fire crews battled the inferno for three and a half hours before finally declaring the fire under control shortly before 6am. The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation to determine the fire’s cause.
Local Residents Shaken, Call for Answers
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said:
“Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a derelict house on Davidson Road in Croydon in the early hours of Sunday morning. The ground floor and stairs were completely destroyed, and most of the first floor was damaged.”
Nearby residents were temporarily evacuated as a safety precaution while firefighters tackled the blaze. Local communities are now anxiously awaiting the investigation results, with concerns running high.
