New Dover Traffic Rules Slam Brakes on A20 Lorries

From just after 3pm Tuesday, Kent hit the brakes on traffic heading into Dover with a fresh Traffic Access Protocol (TAP) aimed at tackling the mounting road chaos.

Speed Limit Slaps on A20

All vehicles coming in from the west must now crawl at 40mph. The move targets the endless queues of freight trucks jamming the town.

Lorries Held Back with Traffic Lights

If things get really snarled, temporary traffic lights will kick in to hold back lorries from flooding Dover’s streets and the A20. Kent County Council said it’s all about stopping port-bound freight from wrecking local roads.

How Long Will TAP Last?

Nothing’s been said on when or if the measures will be lifted — especially with the busy bank holiday weekend looming. Drivers should brace for delays until further notice.
