Early Winter Blast to Chill the UK Next Week
Brace yourselves, Brits! An early winter freeze is heading our way, bringing icy winds, dropping temperatures, and even the threat of snow. The Met Office warns it could disrupt life across the country from next week.
Weekend Calm Before the Cold Storm
This weekend will stay mostly dry but cloudy thanks to lingering high pressure. Friday will be fairly calm but expect northern areas to grow windier by evening as a blast of Arctic air starts to roll in. By Saturday, rain pushes south with temperatures plunging and hill snow possible up north.
Snow and Gales Set to Batter the UK
Things turn serious on Sunday as low pressure moves in, dragging in a “northerly airflow” and Arctic chills, Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Rebekah Hicks reveals. “Initial snowfalls will hit high ground in northern regions,” she says. Gusty winds and plunging temps could cause hazards, especially midweek.
Forecasters are carefully watching the setup. Hicks warns: “There’s uncertainty beyond Sunday. More rain, hill snow, and stronger winds are possible. Widespread snow on low ground isn’t ruled out.”
Stay Alert: Potential Weather Warnings Ahead
The Met Office urges everyone to keep informed. “The whole UK faces several days of cold and potentially disruptive weather,” Hicks stresses. Snow and ice could trigger weather warnings early next week, so prepare for a frosty, blustery spell.
