Newhaven Lifeboat Tows Stricken Boat to Safety
At 9:35am on Saturday 25th May 2025, Newhaven Lifeboat leapt into action. HM Coastguard alerted them to a 26-foot motor vessel in distress. The crew wasted no time, reaching the scene and securing the vessel for a tow to safety.
Eastbourne RNLI Called In Amid Carnival Traffic
By 11:53am, the Eastbourne RNLI team was paged for the 57th time this year. Solent Coastguard requested backup despite heavy carnival traffic clogging the roads. The volunteers quickly reached the Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) station, prepped the D-Class lifeboat, and set off.
Seamless Lifeboat Handover at Sea
Eastbourne RNLI met up with Newhaven Lifeboat to take over the tow. The ILB crew came alongside the struggling vessel, attached towlines, and relieved the Newhaven team, which then headed back to base.
Safe Harbour Arrival and Thanks to Carnival Stewards
During the journey back to Sovereign Harbour, an Eastbourne crew member boarded the casualty boat to keep watch. The ship was safely guided into the harbour lock and handed over to the marina workboat. With the mission complete, the lifeboat returned, refuelled, and got ready for the next emergency. Eastbourne RNLI thanked the carnival stewards for their crucial help in granting quick station access, ensuring a rapid response.
