Terrifying Collision on Station Lane
An elderly man is fighting for his life after being hit by a car on Station Lane, Hornchurch. The shocking smash happened just before 9am on Thursday, May 22. Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of the collision at 8:44am.
The victim, a man in his 80s, suffered serious leg injuries. He was treated on-site by the London Ambulance Service before being rushed to a major trauma centre.
“We treated an elderly patient at the scene for a leg injury and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority,” said a London Ambulance Service spokesperson.
Driver Stays Put as Police Launch Investigation
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police inquiries. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed the pedestrian was seriously hurt but cleared that the car involved stopped after the crash.
“The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his leg. The car involved stopped at the scene.”
The inquiry is ongoing. Police urge anyone with information or dashcam footage to call 101, quoting the incident date.
Traffic Chaos as Station Lane Shuts Down
Station Lane was sealed off both ways between Kenilworth Gardens and Suttons Avenue, causing major disruption around Hornchurch Station. Bus routes 193, 252, and 256 were diverted during the closure.
The road finally reopened shortly before 2pm, easing the travel chaos for frustrated commuters.
