Explosion Rocks Godshill After High Voltage Cable Cut
Emergency crews rushed to Godshill this afternoon after a suspected explosion near the Griffin Family Inn on High Street. Firefighters, paramedics, and police are at the scene following reports a high voltage cable was accidentally cut at a private home.
Serious Burns as Rescue Teams Race to Scene
- Two fire engines from Newport, three police cars, and two ambulances responded immediately.
- The Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance touched down nearby at The Mead.
- One victim is receiving treatment for serious burns and was airlifted to Oddstock Hospital in Salisbury.
Road Closures and Disrupted Bus Services
Police shut the main village road in both directions, causing delays to Southern Vectis Route 3 buses. Utility crews from Southern Gas Networks and Scottish and Southern Electric also arrived after the homeowner reportedly dug through the mains cable feeding the property.
