Man Dies After Being Hit by Police Car on A259 at Peacehaven

A 27-year-old man tragically died after being struck by a marked police vehicle on the A259 at Peacehaven just after 11.10pm on Saturday, 30 April.

Serious Collision Near Dorothy Avenue

Emergency services rushed to the scene near the junction of Dorothy Avenue after the man was hit while in the road. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Independent Investigation Underway

Since a police vehicle was involved, the incident has been handed to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) for a full independent probe.

A section of the A259 South Coast Road was closed in both directions for the investigation but has now reopened, though the junction with Bramber Avenue remains shut.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Chief Superintendent Jo Banks said: “This is a tragic incident and we are fully supporting the IOPC investigation. We want to thank drivers and residents for their patience while the A259 South Coast Road was closed.”
