Fatal Crash Shuts Down Major Dagenham Road

A woman has died following a horror smash in Dagenham this morning. Emergency crews rushed to Leys Avenue, at the junction with A1112 Rainham Road South, at 8.26am on Friday, January 26, after reports of a collision.

Road Closures and Ongoing Police Probe

Despite paramedics’ best efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed. Authorities have shut Rainham Road South in both directions amid an active police investigation. The closure stretches from Ballards Road by the Esso Garage at Bull Roundabout to A125 Rainham Road (Newtons Corner).

Police Confirm Fatal Collision, Deny Rumours

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 8.26am to reports of a woman, believed to be in her 60s, struck by a vehicle in Leys Avenue, Dagenham. Despite the emergency response, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts are with her family at this sad time.”

The spokesperson added warnings about false claims online: “This is being treated as a fatal road traffic collision. We urge the public not to spread rumours.”
