Brutal Rail Station Attack: Chelmsford Man Jailed for Kick to Victim’s Head
Levi Lewis, 19, from Brassie Wood, Chelmsford, has been locked up for three years after a savage attack at an Essex rail station.
Terrifying Unprovoked Assault on Woman
On 14 October 2022, at 11:30pm, a 49-year-old woman was speaking to two people on a stairwell at Chelmsford rail station. One was Lewis.
Suddenly, Lewis snatched her arm, dragged her across the concourse floor, and left her lying between ticket barriers. Then he walked off—only to come back and repeatedly kick her in the head, knocking her unconscious.
After a brief pause to pick up his dropped belongings, Lewis launched three more kicks to her head before fleeing the scene.
Public Helped Catch Attacker
Passersby found the victim and called an ambulance. She was rushed to hospital with serious head and face injuries.
British Transport Police (BTP) launched a probe. Thanks to a public appeal with CCTV images, Lewis was identified and arrested in January 2023.
Justice Served
PC Michael Weller, the lead investigator, said: “Lewis launched a vicious and unprovoked attack on a woman, for which he deserves to spend his next years behind bars.
I would like to thank the public who responded to our appeal and identified Lewis, and to those who came to the victim’s aid that night in Chelmsford.
Violence against women and girls will never be tolerated and, as in this case, we will do everything in our power to ensure perpetrators face justice.”
