Dad and Son Hero Duo Honoured for Daring Worthing Rescue
Adrian Davies and his 10-year-old son Kobias have been awarded a Chief’s Commendation this December for their stunning bravery on Worthing beach. The pair jumped into action when a paddleboarder got into serious trouble in choppy waters.
Quick Thinking Saves a Life
The heroic tale began when young Kobias noticed something was wrong. He alerted his dad and nearby beachgoers immediately. Without missing a beat, Adrian dived into the sea alongside two others while emergency services were called.
Braving a fierce current, Adrian swam more than 30 metres to reach the struggling paddleboarder. Together with help from shore, they hauled the victim back to the beach. Showing remarkable skill, Adrian performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
Bravery Recognised Despite Tragic Outcome
Sadly, despite their best efforts, the paddleboarder was pronounced dead. Still, the courage shown by Adrian and the quick instincts of young Kobias were officially praised. Their fearless actions gave the paddleboarder the best possible chance and inspired the whole community.
“We are both thrilled with this award, but would like to acknowledge everyone involved that day on the beach,” Adrian said humbly.
Everyday Heroes Step Up in Crisis
This remarkable rescue highlights how ordinary people can become heroes in an instant. Adrian and Kobias’ bravery on that fateful day in Worthing is a powerful reminder to stay alert, act fast, and support one another when lives hang in the balance.
