Urgent Warning: Don’t Join Search for Missing Firefighter Anthony Knott
Sussex Police and East Sussex Fire crews have issued a stark warning to the public: leave the hunt for missing dad-of-four Anthony Knott to the experts. The Orpington man vanished nearly six days ago after a night out in Lewes, East Sussex, sparking a massive search operation.
Emergency Teams in Full Swing
Since Anthony disappeared during a pub crawl on Friday, December 20, emergency services have scrambled to find him. Police, firefighters, and the Lowlands Search and Rescue have all descended on Lewes in a high-stakes rescue effort. His disappearance is deemed out of character, and he’s now classified as a high-risk missing person.
Public Urged: Don’t Risk It
East Sussex Fire Service has warned volunteers keen to help to stay safe and let professional teams carry out the search. Authorities stressed the dangers, especially near the River Ouse, advising the public not to put themselves in harm’s way.
“We know lots of you want to help search for London Fire colleague Anthony Knott – but please don’t put your own safety at risk, especially near the river in Lewes,” says a joint statement from East Sussex Fire and Rescue and Sussex Police.
Clues and Concerns
- Anthony’s phone and bank cards have remained untouched since Friday evening.
- Last contact was at 7:30pm on the night he disappeared.
