Blaze Breaks Out in Islington Highrise

A fire tore through a highrise block of flats in Islington on Sunday afternoon, sparking panic in the Finsbury Park area.

Forty Firefighters Battle Fierce Flames

The London Fire Brigade rushed crews from Islington and nearby stations to the scene on Biggerstaff Street, near Holloway Road. Smoke billowed from a balcony on the ninth floor, halfway up the tower block.

A spokesperson for LFB said: “We were called at 1.38pm to a fire on a balcony on the ninth floor. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters are at the scene.”

No Injuries Reported as Firefighters Tackle Blaze

Thankfully, there have been no reports of injuries so far. Fire crews continue to battle the blaze to bring it under control.
