Woman Harassed in Tonbridge Road: Police Hunt Persistent Man

A woman was left shaken after a man repeatedly questioned her about where she was heading and lived on Tonbridge Road, near Bower Terrace. His persistent and unwanted attempts to engage her sparked alarm before a passerby stepped in and guided her to safety.

Incident Details and Suspect Description

The unsettling episode took place around 9.15am on 17 October 2022. Officers are appealing for witnesses who were nearby or noticed anything suspicious to come forward. They also urge anyone else approached by a similar man to get in touch.

The suspect is described as:

  • Black male
  • In his 30s
  • Large build
  • Approximately 5ft 3ins tall
  • Wearing a black hooded top

“We believe other women may have been targeted with unwanted attention. While no criminal offence may have been committed, this man’s actions caused significant distress. It’s vital we identify and speak to him,” said investigating officer PC Josiah Taylor.
