Met Police Hunt Witnesses After Brutal Assault on Officers in Bromley Road Crash
Five police officers were left battered after a chaotic collision in SE6 sparked a violent attack.
Violent Scene After Car Crash in Bromley Road
On Sunday, 12 July at around 5:25pm, a silver Vauxhall Corsa smashed into a lamppost and a green Fiat Punto on Bromley Road. The driver then tried to flee on foot but was quickly caught by officers from the Met’s Territorial Support Group.
Officers Punched, Bitten, and Injured
The suspect lashed out, punching and biting officers. They had to restrain him with leg restraints and a spit guard. The man was taken to hospital with injuries from the crash and remained aggressive, hurling racial abuse during the journey.
Man Arrested on Multiple Charges
He’s now been arrested for aggravated taking and driving away, assault on police, drink driving, and a racially aggravated offence under the Public Order Act. Officers suffered cuts, bruises, and scratches in the attack.
Police Appeal for Dashcam and Phone Footage
Detective Constable Alan Jones, leading the probe, urged witnesses to step forward. “We know people nearby saw this incident. Please send us any dashcam or mobile footage,” he said. “It will help bring the attacker to justice.”
