Blaze Breaks Out as Telehandler Goes Up in Flames Near Portsmouth

Two fire crews raced to Belney Lane in Southwick, near Portsmouth, after a telehandler suddenly erupted in flames this lunchtime (Friday, June 15).

Firefighters Battle Fierce Flames with Limited Water

Mobilised from Cosham Fire Station just after 12.15pm, eight firefighters armed with two hose reels, breathing apparatus, and a high-pressure lance are fighting the blaze.

They’re also scrambling to stop the fire from spreading to a nearby pile of silage that the telehandler was working on.

Remote Location Adds to Firefighting Challenges

Efforts to douse the flames are complicated by the remote spot and a lack of nearby water supply, making the battle tougher for the crews on the scene.
