Workshop Blaze Rages Through Chadwell St Mary
Firefighters were scrambled early this morning to tackle a fierce blaze at a workshop on Linford Road, Chadwell St Mary.
Firefighters Battle Fierce Flames
Upon arrival, crews found the six-by-five-metre workshop fully engulfed in flames. They quickly surrounded the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings. The inferno was brought under control by around 6am.
Smoke Warning for Locals
By 8am, the incident commander confirmed the fire was under control, but firefighters remained at the scene, working through the morning to dampen down hot spots.
One container inside the workshop held plastic, which continued to smoulder and produce thick smoke when doused with water. Authorities urged residents to keep windows and doors closed, though the wind has luckily carried most of the smoke away from homes.
Firefighters Remain on Site
At 9.30am, crews were still wetting down the area and expected to stay for some time to ensure complete safety.
