Blaze Breaks Out in West Wight Wood Store!
At around 6.15am on Saturday, flames erupted in a wood store nestled between a house and garage storage building in West Wight. Two fire crews from Freshwater and a water carrier from Yarmouth rushed to the scene to battle the blaze.
Fire Spreads Quickly
The fire had already spread to the garage storage when firefighters arrived. Deploying high-pressure hose reels and main jets, the crews fought hard to douse the flames and stop the fire from engulfing the house and nearby woodland.
High-Tech Gear and Quick Thinking Save the Day
Thermal imaging cameras helped firefighters locate hidden hot spots beneath the building’s floor. A major risk was a gas cylinder inside the outbuilding, which crews swiftly cooled down and safely removed.
Cause of Fire and Aftermath
Investigators believe the blaze was sparked by an overheating light inside the wood store. Thanks to the rapid response and skillful action by local fire crews, a potential disaster was averted.
