Blaze Tears Through Three-Storey Block Roof in Early Morning Fire

A three-storey block’s roof erupted in flames at dawn, sparking a huge fire response. One woman suffered smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene by London Ambulance crews.

Firefighters Battle Blaze Using Tower Ladder

Station Commander Jim Berry, onsite, revealed: “The roof was well alight when we arrived. We used one of our 32-metre ladders to douse the flames from above.”

He warned locals: “Some road closures remain, so motorists should avoid the area where possible.”

Massive Fire Response Brings Blaze Under Control

  • Fire brigade called at 6.36am
  • Fire under control by 8.28am
  • Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters deployed
  • Units from Orpington, Bromley, Biggin Hill, Beckenham, Addington and nearby stations attended

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
