Charlie Opens Up About Her Acoustic Neuroma
In her post, Doherty revealed she had been struggling with ongoing health issues before pushing for an MRI scan. The results showed she has an acoustic neuroma—a non-cancerous brain tumour also known as a vestibular schwannoma.
“So I received some rubbish news this week… I have been having some ongoing issues which have gone on a while and I pushed for an MRI which has resulted in them finding a brain tumour,” she wrote. She speculated that factors like mobile phone use, sunbed exposure, and loud nightclub music might have contributed.
The NHS explains acoustic neuromas mostly affect adults aged 30 to 60 and have no clear cause. Symptoms can include hearing loss, tinnitus, and dizziness. Treatment options range from brain surgery to stereotactic radiosurgery.
