Four Hospitalised After Early Morning Lewisham House Blaze
Fire Breaks Out Just Before 1:45am
Chaos erupted in Lewisham in the early hours of Tuesday when a house fire broke out on Marsala Road. London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called at 1:44am on 21 May after reports of thick smoke and flames.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters rushed to the scene from Lewisham, Greenwich, and Lee Green stations to tackle the blaze. The fire seriously damaged part of the building’s ground floor.
Three Adults and a Child Rescued
Fire crews rescued three adults and one child trapped inside the house. London Ambulance Service treated them for smoke inhalation at the scene before taking all four to hospital. Their exact conditions are not yet known, but all were conscious when transferred.
Fire Brought Under Control Within The Hour
Thanks to a swift response, firefighters contained the flames by 2:43am, less than an hour after arriving. The speedy work prevented the fire from spreading further.
Investigation Underway: Residents Warned
The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation by the London Fire Brigade’s fire investigation team. Local residents are being urged to check their smoke alarms and make sure they have clear emergency escape plans in place.
