Investigation Underway, Suspect Detained

Durham Police, leading the probe, have arrested a man in his 60s in connection with the stabbing. Detective Chief Inspector Chris Smiles said:

“Our thoughts are with our colleague who suffered appalling injuries while simply doing his job. Thankfully, his condition is no longer critical and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.”

HMP Frankland: Home to Britain’s Most Dangerous

HMP Frankland holds some of the country’s most notorious criminals, including Damien Bendall, who killed four in Derbyshire in 2021, and Wayne Couzens, the convicted murderer of Sarah Everard. The prison has seen violent incidents before, underscoring ongoing security challenges in the facility.

Police continue to investigate the stabbing and are in contact with the officer’s family to offer support. More updates are expected as the inquiry develops.
