HGV Blaze Sparks Chaos on M25 Near Darenth Interchange
Major delays hit the M25 after a lorry caught fire near the Darenth Interchange. The cab of the HGV, loaded with rounded timber, was engulfed in flames.
Quick-Thinking Firefighters Stop Inferno Spreading
Thanks to the swift response by Kent Fire and Rescue, the blaze was contained before reaching the timber load. Two fire engines raced to the scene and used hose reel jets to douse the flames.
No Injuries but Long Delays Expected
A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue said:
We were called to a lorry alight on the M25 clockwise near Junction 2 for Dartford. Two fire engines attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire. No casualties were reported. The cause is unknown at this time.”
Responsibility has now been handed over to the Highways Agency. Drivers are warned to brace for lengthy delays while congestion clears.
