Teenager Survives Shocking Electric Shock After Trespassing on Bournemouth Railway

Terrifying footage shows the exact moment 16-year-old Tegan was saved after risking her life by trespassing on the railway at Bournemouth station.

Shortcut Turns Nightmare

Tegan tried to take a shortcut across the tracks to reach her friend on the opposite platform following their school prom. But disaster struck when she accidentally touched a live electrical conductor rail.

The electric current passed through her left arm, crossed her heart, and exited via her right arm, causing her heart to stop beating for seven agonising minutes. She suffered a cardiac arrest and severe third-degree burns over 10% of her body.

Quick-Thinking Staff Save Her Life

Thanks to the rapid response from Bournemouth station staff, Tegan was pulled to safety and resuscitated on the platform. She then spent five months in hospital recovering and still faces further surgery.

“Being in intensive care was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. I thought nobody would love me the same and that I’d never be like my old self again,” Tegan said.

“I want people to learn from my mistake and understand that dangers on the railway aren’t always obvious, like the conductor rail and trip hazards.”

Tegan’s mother, Sasha Mullings, added: “She’s definitely lucky to still be here. That day haunts me. One small thought could save the pain you put yourself and your family through.”

Turning Tragedy into a Warning

Determined to make a difference, Tegan plans to study psychology and help people affected by severe burns. She also stars in a powerful film by Network Rail highlighting the deadly risks of railway trespassing.

The campaign, You vs Train, works with British Transport Police and the rail industry to warn the public about the deadly consequences of trespassing.

David Smith, Network Rail’s safety director for Wessex, said: “I’d like to commend Tegan and Sasha for their bravery in sharing this story one year on. This video shows the devastating impact trespassing can have – everyone loses when you step on the track.”

Parents, warn your kids—railways are deadly, not playgrounds.
