Police were scrambled to Chudleigh Road just after 3am on Saturday following reports of a violent assault. A major police operation saw at least four squad cars rush to the scene, sparking alarm in the quiet neighbourhood.

Defendant Stands Firm, Pleads Not Guilty

Thomas Reid, 32, from Chudleigh Road, is accused of two counts of intentional strangulation. He appeared at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 20 October 2025, and vehemently denied all charges. Reid was remanded in custody pending further hearings.

Next Hearing Scheduled for November

Reid is set to return to Plymouth Crown Court on 24 November, where the case will proceed.

“Thomas Reid, 32, from Chudleigh Road, Plymouth, has been charged with two counts of intentional strangulation in connection to an incident on 18 October,” said a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police.

“He is due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today (20 October).”
