Tragedy at Rhondda School: Eight-Year-Old Olivia-Grace Dies After Medical Episode

A heartbroken family is mourning their “beautiful baby girl” after eight-year-old Olivia-Grace Huxter died following a sudden medical emergency at Penrhys Primary School in Ferndale, Rhondda.

Olivia-Grace was rushed to hospital after collapsing at the small school of just 99 pupils. Sadly, she passed away days later. South Wales Police confirmed they are investigating but stressed there are no suspicious circumstances. The exact cause will be revealed after a post-mortem examination.

“My beautiful, beautiful baby girl, I can’t eat, I can’t sleep without you. I’m so grateful I was able to hold you and sing you to sleep one last time with your favourite bedtime song. You were wanted, admired and absolutely adored by everyone lucky enough to have known you. I don’t know what life will look like now. I love you to the moon and back twice.”

Devastated mum Melanie described Olivia-Grace as deeply loved and cherished. The family insists this was a tragic “freak incident” with no blame attached.

Community Left Reeling as School Reopens After Shocking Death

Penrhys Primary closed immediately after the incident but reopened today. Headteacher expressed gratitude to parents for their support and announced on Facebook:

“Due to the traumatic event that happened at our lovely school this afternoon, we will be closed for all children tomorrow. School will be open for children and staff again on Friday.”

Local councillor Julie Edwards urged the community to avoid speculation while police investigations continue.

“Emergency services were called to Penrhys Primary School just after 2pm on Wednesday, October 8, following reports of a medical episode. The girl was taken to hospital where she later died. There are no suspicious circumstances, and an investigation on behalf of the coroner is now under way.”
