Tragic Traffic Accident Claims Life of Beloved Wadhurst Dad
Heartfelt tributes are pouring in after Michael Bartholomew, 80, died following a traffic collision in Ticehurst. The fatal smash happened at the crossroads of Whiligh and High Street at around 12.50pm on December 8.
Crash Details: Honda Hits Vauxhall
The crash involved a white Honda and a blue Vauxhall. Michael, a passenger in the Honda, suffered severe injuries. Despite heroic efforts from paramedics, he passed away on December 21. The 81-year-old Honda driver was seriously hurt but has since been discharged from hospital.
Family Pay Moving Tribute to Sportsman and Plumber
“We want to thank all of the police officers, air ambulance, and hospital staff who were so good to Michael. The care he received was amazing,” the family said.
“Michael was a footballer in his younger days and an avid cricketer. He belonged to a sports club and served in Rotary for over 20 years.”
“A well-known plumber in Wadhurst, Michael was a much-loved figure in the village. He was a devoted father of two and the partner of Eileen for 13 years after losing his first wife. They spent many happy years together.”

Sussex Police are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or has dashcam or CCTV footage to contact [email protected] quoting Operation Northorpe.
